Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does it work?
A: We pick up your pup, transport them safely to a nearby trail, and lead them on a group hike with plenty of breaks for water, sniffing, and play. At the end of the adventure, we bring your dog back home happy, tired, and fulfilled.

Q: Can owners join the hikes?
A: Yes! We host select “owner & dog” hikes where you’re invited to come along, explore nature, and meet other local dog lovers.

Q: Is Outdoor Dogs safe?
A: Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. We limit group sizes, use secure harnesses, and transport dogs in climate-controlled vehicles. Our guides are experienced dog handlers who understand canine behavior, canine CPR, and trail safety.

Q: What kinds of dogs can join?
A: We welcome most dogs, as long as they are at least 4 months of age, friendly, up-to-date on vaccinations, and comfortable around other dogs.

Q: How long are the hikes?
A: Most hikes last roughly 3 - 3.5 hours on the trail (this will include water breaks), depending on the group’s pace, weather, and terrain. Including travel time, your dog will be out of the house for several hours of enrichment.
Q: How do you handle weather?
AL We hike in most conditions, but never when it’s unsafe (extreme heat, thunderstorms, icy trails). If we need to cancel or reschedule, we’ll notify you right away.

Q: Will my dog get dirty?
A: Probably a little — and that’s part of the fun! We do our best to towel off muddy paws before returning your pup home.

Q: What about ticks and other pests?
A: All dogs must be on a regular flea and tick preventative before joining a hike. Our guides do a quick tick check during and after each adventure, but we recommend owners do an at-home check as well. While we can’t prevent every encounter in nature, we take every precaution to keep your pup safe and comfortable.

Q: How do I book a hike?
A: You can book directly through our website.

Q: What should I do to prepare my dog?
A: Please make sure your pup has
-
A secure, well-fitting harness or collar
-
Current vaccinations
-
Current flea/tick prevention
-
A light meal a couple of hours before the hike (not right before)
We’ll take care of the rest — water, treats, and fun!
Q: What if my dog doesn’t get along with other dogs?
A: For safety, all dogs must be social and non-aggressive.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Pricing varies by adventure and package type. For current rates, visit our home page or sign in to your Outdoor Dogs account.
